I repainted my 706D last summer. I did the prep and had a friend who is a professional body man spray the paint. He priced the PPG paint they use at his shop - $512 his cost for 1 gallon of paint plus activator (and that may or may not have finished a 706.) We ended up using PPG epoxy primer ($120 for 2 quarts + activator, and worth every penny) and Case-IH Ironguard enamel ($34/gallon) and added hardener. It turned out great - beautiful finish, outstanding shine. It does take a while for the paint to really harden up. Even with the hardener and in summertime the paint was still pretty soft a month later. After 2 months, though, it really started setting up well. Now it seems as hard as any automotive finish. As for resistance to fading, we'll see. The tractor is for use, not show, but it is kept inside, and I wax the sheetmetal about twice a year.
