As Peterc says, no water pump. The cooling system operates on a thermosyphon principal. Hot water rises and cooled water goes down. The level in the radiator must be 2 inches or so below the top of the fill opening. If you fill it all the way up, thermal expansion will cause overflow. There is an overflow hose (or tube) that goes down the back side of the radiator to take care of overflow. I think this is where you saw the coolant coming from. If you get on a hill side, some times that will cause an overflow as well as the radiator being too full. The radiator is not pressurized, so it is just essentially and open vent so rough riding, hillsides, overfilling and the engine getting hot (not necessarily overheating) can all cause an overflow. None of this is of concern, just check the coolant frequently and add some if it gets too low.
