All of my owners manuals for my tractors say use the same oil that is in the engine. They also tell you to change it when the sludge builds up in the cup, sometimes sixty hours, and sometimes when you change engine oil. You are supposed to inspect oil baths frequently enough to be able to tell it's dirty.
