Actually the way I've heard it explained Nitrous is actually a type of forced induction. It's a compressed gas with about 13% more oxygen than the normal natural atmosphere, and it cools the intake charge as it's taken in by the engine. You have to add more fuel with it or you get broken engine parts in the oil pan just like with a turbo or super-charger. I prefer BIG CID, and Low RPM. with multiple cylinders! Don't want to be accused of being a jd type of guy. Your absolutely right that you can add several different types of power adders to an engine, like Nitrous, with a turbo blowing into a supercharger, or 2 turbos and nitrous, or whatever combination you want.
