I assume it is a gasoline tractor, not diesel. Sounds like you need a tune up to get it all in tip top condition, like Bama Binder suggests. Gas Farmalls start easy if all is in good condition. However being that far north, I'd suggest a block heater of some kind. I thought that was usual for that far north anyway.
