The hole in the air cleaner stack on mine is round and the edges of the hole are smooth, but indented
toward the interior of the stack. The elbow on the end of the tubing is male thread. I'm at loss as to just what kind of device could the elbow been attached to. I've surmised it may been a rubber like plug that the elbow screwed into a metal plate molded in the rubber, then simply pushed into the hole? Case/IH parts illustrations, both of air cleaner and breather tube don't show clearly enough the assemblies.
