Hours on a tractor compare to miles on a car in only one respect: How were the put on? I've seen cars with almost no miles accumulated in 5 years that were nearly junk because of the manner in which they'd been driven, and the lack of common maintenance they had! One of the best cars I ever bought had 101,000 miles on it when I got it, and I got another 80,000 out of it with almost no repair expense. The first 100,000 were all highway miles and the oil had been changed frequently. It's the same way with tractors. I'd prefer to have a tractor that had spent lots of hours in the field but was well-maintained than one which had few hours, was never worked hard enough to warm up thoroughly, and was owned by someone who wouldn't change the oil and couldn't find his grease gun!
