Dick - There's 2 kinds of cutouts: The original mechanical relay style, and a newer, sealed solid state unit. You can pop the cover off the relay units and fool with the inner workings. But the solid state units have no moving parts so the guts are potted in plastic. My limited experiece with the solid state cutouts is they work fine and last much longer than the mechanical ones. ...Bob M
