Jim: I posted two hours ago but it didn't showup so I'll post again.. You said you have a "trickle" charger so if its less than 5 amps output when connected it will be ok but as Harold says K-mart has lowcost 6\12 volt chargers. The key here is low amps into your battery will NOT hurt it. Many tractors charge 2 to 5 amps all day and its OK for the battery.. but your charger may not like the mis-match long term. A 6 volt bulb in series will help the mis match..if the charger doesn't have good "current limiting" feature. harvey
