when i converted my smta to 12 volts I also went to a solenoid instead of the push botton on the starter. used a ford type solenoid. it has the 2 batter posts, in and out, then one wire that runs to your starter switch and the other is to bypass the resister when starting, you may not need it. anyway was pretty cheap.
