Here in NC the dept. of transporation ( weigh guys) will provide free routing info for oversize farm equipment. I moved a combine by flatbed and their assistance was a big help. I sold an old combine and the new owner drove it 52 miles. Not only is this time consuming but dangerous. You need to be able to keep up with the traffic and I would discourage driving the machine. The minimum would be to have an escort and that puts two of you at risk due to the slow speed. Go to the nearest dealer for the brand that you are buying and tell them that you are getting the machine and ask for suggestions on getting it home. Since you will be giving business to the dealer for parts he should cooperate in assisting you to get the machine home.
