The only thing I know is find a junker with power steering and swap parts. I was told by a pretty sharp IH mechanic that the parts from a gas 424 won't fit a diesel and vice versa.

My dad's is a 1967 model with manual steering. Very good for toning the arms. Interesting thing, the center cap says POWER STEERING. Has always been that way, guess someone got careless at the factory.
