Dick - I did a quick search and couldn't find the previous discussion either! So here's the drill once again. You'll need a short length of wire (#12 or so) with an alligator clip at each end. This presumes your wiring is correct and in good shape, and the ammeter is functioning properly. Run all tests with the motor running at 1/2 throttle or faster:

1 - Connect one end of the jumper wire to the base of the regulator; the other to the grounded battery post (the "-" post on your tractor). If the ammeter shows charge, clean up the ground between the regulator and the tractor frame. If you still get no charge...

2 - Connect one end of the jumper wire to the "F" terminal on the generator and the other to a good ground. If the ammeter shows charge, the regulator is bad. If still no charge...

3 - Connect one end of the jumper to the "BAT" terminal and the other to the "GEN" terminal at the regulator. If you get a charge, the regulator is bad. If still no charge, the problem's in the generator.
