generator cut out relay.

I have the one hot wire the runs too the cut out, Right do far? There are three prongs on the cutout. The middle one says batt. So i presume that is where the hot wire goes, right? Then the other two has the letter C and L. I figgured they boath hook up to the other two prongs but i get lots of unnatural spark when trying to hook up. Simplify how to hook the thing up for me. i know there is one prong on bottom. Making 4 prongs all together.
