Spend it now or spend it later. I'd hate to have to break the tractor open again to put in a new clutch. Surfacing the flywheel is cheap, even if it does nothing more than de-glaze the surface. If it's true that ridges ,etc, don't matter, why not apply the same rules to brakes on cars and trucks? Don't turn the drums or disks and let the shoes and pads adjust themselves.
