M Serial Number suffix and gas cap

I just got hold of a '46 M Ser # 120310x-1. Can anyone tell me what the x-1 is for. It looks like the paint on the engine and transmission case is kind of a green color beings how the paint looks like it sat outside all its life. Also last year Navistar had a gas cap replacement thing going on. Is it still available as I didn't capitalize on it when i should have. thanx.
