What's worked for me in the past is to get a small chisel or stout screwdriver. Put it at an angle against the inside of the plug where the square recess is, like you would unscrew it, and use a small hammer to get it to unscrew. Hopefully you can tap it out. I would be afraid to try to weld something to it because of the heat involved.
