Yes, the seal on the pump input shaft. That shaft is connected to the pump gear. You should be able to take the cover off that is behind the belly pump under the tractor and see if the leak is coming from around the shaft. YOu can run the tractor as much as you want with the belly pump out. Won't hurt a thing. If you are into a lot of work with dirt, etc, would be good to put a cover over the opening in the clutch housing to keep dirt out of the clutch, etc. You can also just take out the coupling that drives the belly pump and leave the pump in there. To do that, you have to lower the belly pump down to get the "cross" piece of the coupling out.
