I am not familiar with the Cub ignition, but on the H there is a keyway that can shear which will throw off the rotor timing. You will probably have to remove the distributor and check connections from the back of the gear towards the rotor. Before you remove the distributor, I recommend you get the number one piston on top dead center on the compression stroke.
