Okay, BB - U.S. Army, 1965-1969, then got the idea that maybe I should switch to the Navy and see the world! U.S. Navy 1969-1973, stationed aboard the USS Guam (LPH-9), a helicopter carrier with a Marine Battalion Landing Team (2000 men strong and their supporting air wing)on board. We were the first ship in the world to launch and recover the Harrier Jump Jet and I was fortunate to be on board when that happened. Supported the Lebanese government during their civil war with the PLO in 1970 - served as the primary recovery ship for the Army MASH units in Lebanon at the time. For thanks, we got strafed by the Israeli Air Force - nothing like the Liberty incident, but scary nonetheless. Thanks for the post Bama Binder.
