I can answer a few of your questions as I have a H also. I assuming you have a belly pump which is under the middle of the tractor. It has a drive shaft from the transmission that drives it. Like the transmission, it only works when the clutch is not engaged. It holds 6 quarts of oil and 30 wt, non detergent oil works best. If it shuld leak oil there is a gasket and an oil seal the can be replaced. It only lifts one direction. You should have a fitting on each side of the tractor to hook up hydraulic hoses with the left side having to fittings - one is designed to delay lifting the rear section of a cultivator for a few seconds at the end of the rows. H's are one of the best model tractors ever made. Good luck with yours.
