Uh oh Farmallers. I drove west of Indianapolis and looked at this 1942 Farmall H. It is complete with the head, manifold, carb. oil pan, hood and other goodies in a box out of the weather. The main tires are good and the fronts are OK. Seat is shot and the tin is so-so. The engine is stuck with the pistons about half way up/down in the cylinders. They are a domed pistons with a rise that is shaped like a peanut. So these are not original pistons. They are carboned up so I would venture the oil rings are shot. It has the friction throttle lever with double wheel weights and original fenders. The underside of the engine looked good. The oil intake screen still has grimy oil on it. I would suspect it was run non-detergent. It has the aftermarket Delco Remy vertical distributor and the long oil filter can. Since the price and transporation are right, I thought I would take a stab at it. My game plan would be to free up the pistons, slap it back together and see if I can get it to run. I'm willing to waste money on a head gasket for that. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. After tackling the 1951 H two years ago, I really don't see a downside on this one. It was in a tight space so I didn't get very complete pictures.

Cylinders are the reason for the hydraulic circuit. They take the fluid power delivered from the pump and magically change it into mechanical power. There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
