leave it positive ground the reverse current relay in the regulator wont like it if you have to have a neg ground have fun finding a neg ground regulator aas most of the old tractors had pos gnd look on the back of most new ones they will say pos gnd if you dont believe me go ahead and do it you WILL have trouble check cables should be 1ga a rebuilt starter will cost 77 pluss freight and might need that also be surprized what a rebuilt one will do few shops can do a good job as the arm costs 45 to rewind fields are 30 plus bushings and brushes drive is another 30 so why not get a rebiuld where everything is good and GUARANTEED
