NO THEY ARE NOT HARD TO WORK ON THE SEAL ON THE MAIN SHAFT IS PROBABLY WORN CHECK THE SHAFT IF IT IS WORN AT THE SEAL JOURNAL YOU WILL WANT TO PUT A SPEEDY SLEEVE SO THE SEAL HAS A GOOD SURFACE TO RIDE ON BE SURE TO GET THE WASHER BENT ON THE GEAR AS THAT KEEPS IT FROM GETTING LOOSE ON THE SHAFT TWO TYPES OF SEALS WERE USED WONT KNOW WHICH ONE YOU HAVE EITHER A O-RING OR A SEAL
