Help with switch

Can any of you tell me how to prove my headlight switch on my IH 444 is still good. Get no light as of last evening. All looks like it did when last used lights about one week ago(Still oily , still dirty, stll with naked spots in insulation on wires but not shorting out). Would like to prove working without taking off dash.
