Your tractor most likely has 2 notches in the front crankshaft pulley-fairly close together. Clean them so that they are clearly seen. Others might use a different procedure, but we would get the same results. If your tractor will start and runs, hook up the timing light, then crank the tractor and run at 3/4 or more throttle. Set the timing so that the first of the 2 marks lines up with the pointer. Tighten the distributor and move the throttle lever to minimum engine speed-low idle. Check the timing again. The second mark should line up with the pointer. If this goes as expected, you have just set the timing correctly and verified the correct operation of the centrifugal advance.
