The A, B, & BN all use the same engine, transmission and final drives. The A has a wide front axle and a short left side rear axle. The B & BN have narrow front ends (either can have single or dual wheel)and wide rear wheel track. The BN axles are each 4" shorter than a B uses, hence the 8" difference that Steve noted. Both very handy, manuverable tractors that were hampered by the lack of factory hyraulics. The B was made from 1939 to 1947, BN came out in '41 (I think). Both were replaced by the C in '48. The story I was told is that the BN was made in response to the needs of bean farmers who didn't like the rear spacing choices of a B. I don't know if there is anything to that or not. Both were available with a "liftall" option that was an exhaust pressure operated lift cylinder. It was not one of thier better features.
