Looks like somebody put a grease fitting on the fan hub. I wonder if the bearing has been changed? The grease fitting is non standard. Originally, these hubs were oil lubricated. Small chamber in there holds a small amount of oil. I think new hubs have ball bearings in them. While you have it down, you might want to take the fan hub off and take it apart to investigate.
