The box is your electrical box, that houses your light switch, and ammeter. Some of these light swithes have about five settings, some tractors have 3. Not exactly sure of the number, don't feel like walking down to the barn, either) The idea is when the lights are on, the generator will put out more, juice, high beams, the generator will put out still more juice. As far as your battery goes, make sure all the wiring is hooked up properly. (positve ground), then polarize your generater, perhaps this'll get it to charge again. On the down side, maybe your battery is junk, and won't hold a charge.
