that was for the shutters might have been an original dual fuel engine start on gas then switch over to kerosene do you have a spaare hole in the hood that was where the gas tank was a small one on the right side of the engine might have been changed also it was not unusal for them to have shutters was nice in winter to warm engine our 49M came with shutters but the 47B did not so we had a burlap sack on the B so it would keep warm as it was used almost every day as was the M
