Electrical Problems

I have a farmall tractor between 1942 and 1947. I'm having a problem with the amp gauge discharging. Could someone tell me how many amps should the alternator be putting out. Or, is there a problem with the voltage regulator. Also, could someone recommend a repair manual on electrical trouble shooting to this model. (I having a hard time finding someone to fix the problem in "my neck of the woods"). Thank you.
