Brake seals on farmalls and other seals

I was recently doing the brakes on an H and although its a dear old tractor, just about every seal that could leak is...when I removed the drums I found out why and maybe this will save some one some grief latter on. The collar on the drum was rusted and the rust was raised so that it chewed the leather seals out,so just a warning to make sure you clean the collar of the drum thoroughly with emery cloth and a dab of grease will lub the collar when you install it. My pto shaft seal has started to leak for the same reason, rust...kind of a built in self destructing force. I have the seals for the rear axles and will do them this week and of course the pto seal and then my H will be mechanically complete.Its like a hydraulic cylinder that has a spot of rust on it..will take a seal out in a hurry. Anyway hope this helps someone doing brakes, so you don't have to put seals in a second time. MIKE
