Most replacement oil seals are not as thick as the original IHC seals. I have installed the new seal so as to have the lip on another portion of the shaft. Either press the oil seal deeper in the retainer or closer to the edge. Study the cross-section of the old and new seals to determine the best position. Polish the shaft with a strip of very fine 400+ grit emery cloth to provide a very smooth surface for the new seal.
