Dave, You have some real good suggestions to follow, if still bothered check the distributor also for wear, the gears do wear out in them also. We fought the same problem on a 400 engine after a complete overhaul plus it would foul the plugs after a couple of hours, after much frustration we went into the local Cenex station and bought some ethonal mix gas. No more trouble with rough running or fouled plugs no matter what brand of plugs. Good luck.
