Tim: Not an expert on the SC, but most (many, all?) of the touch control valves originally used with the Fast Hitch have a cross-check valve block downstream of the control valve to minimize the hitch bleeding down (it's probably where the hoses coming from the cylinder are attached). Assuming your tractor has one, the problem is probably there. It has a ball check in the "up" side which prevents fluid from returning to the control valve until you put pressure on the "down" side (which moves a plunger in the cross-check valve, which pushes the ball check out of the way of the returning fluid, allowing the fluid to go back to the control valve). The plunger has an o-ring which has to seal for the plunger to work correctly. From the symptoms you're describing, I suspect this o-ring isn't sealing very well any more, and the ball check is only getting partially opened. Solution is a new o-ring; it's easy to replace this on my 300U, but access might not be so easy on your tractor, I don't know. My best guess at this point. Let us know if this is totally off base, and maybe another theory will emerge.
