I agree, if you drained 20 gallons put 20 back in. It should only take about 18 or so. (I don't have my books handy right now or I'd give you the spec). If you over fill it, it will find a place to come out of. Hydros use a different dipstick than geardriven tractors of the same model, so don't intermix them. And NEVER, EVER pull a Hydro, unless it is in N range. Often a Hydro tractor will have a problem shifting from High range to Low, and viceversa. This is due to corrosion in the the housing for the linkage. If it won't shift, disconnect the linkage, pull the floorpanel, and with the linkage disconnected, see if it will shift manually. Prevent this unnecessary work with regular oiling of that shaft and bellcrank assembly. You should check for manuals from your local Case/IH dealer for your Hydro. You might find that they'll cost you less from the dealer than aftermarket. I bought the manuals for my Farmall 656 Hydro from the dealer and he saved me quite a bit. I have the entire set of books for that tractor. There is a guy named Lew at the Case/IH dealer in Intercourse, PA who is an expert on these tractors. He is a great guy to speak with and can answer every question you have. I've spoken with him a lot about my Hydro troubles. He has never missed the mark. Learned about him right here about two years ago. Hope this helps, JH

Sadly though all his efforts seemed to be a waste of time and money as he still couldn''t get the temperamental old thing to run correctly!! If i said that this was a little frustrating for him that would be "conservative" in fact the problem had reduce
