Got the bolster pivot shaft, etc removed on my Super H this afternoon in order to replace worn bushings in the steering mechanism. When I got it apart I discovered the bushings indeed need replacement. However I found the thrust bearing to be in perfect condition. Reason for this was a previous owner had put it together wrong, leaving out the "upper bolster pivot shaft thrust bearing spacer" part # 67 836 D. This resulted in the weight on the front wheels being carried by the flange and bolt heads at the bottom of the pivot shaft instead of by the thrust bearing, hence the thrust bearing's condition being "like new"! My question is this: Anyone know the thickness of the missing spacer? In the parts catalog it appears as though the spacer is about 1/4". I'm going to fabricate a spacer and can probably figure it out by trial and error. However if someone else has one apart and could measure and share the spacer thickness it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!! ...Bob M Punch below for a few photos of progress so far...
