If I understand you gents, it sounds like you're saying the solenoid is actually a relay with one set of very heavy duty contacts and a coil that matches the battery voltage. In the START position the ignition switch passes a "little" current to the relay, which then closes its contacts to short a "bunch" of current straight from the battery to the starter for cranking the engine. Right? Mark W.
