The 400 may or may not have factory power steering. I don't think the SMTA had that option. The 400 came with a larger engine, but most of the SM models have been overhauled with thin-wall sleeves to have the same displacement as the 400 or 450. The 400 very possibly has more hydraulic outlets and circuits than the SMTA. The 400 also came with a tachometer and a throttle lever that moves in a vertical plane instead of horizontal.
I'm not sure when the factory switched the electrical systems from 6 volts to 12 volts, but I think it was later.
