Gene - Your vacuum readings are about right - including the momentary drop to 0 on acceleration and run up to 25" on deceleration. So it sounds as if your intake valves are most likely set and working OK. A sticking exhaust valve however would not be detected by a vacuum gage, so the miss still COULD be an exhaust valve-related problem. One more suggestion: Remove the valve cover and watch the exhaust valve rotators (I presume that motor has 'em). See how long it takes each rotator to turn it's valve 1 full turn, and then if that coincides with time between "pops". If so you might have a slightly bent stem on one exhaust valve and it hangs when in a certain spot in it's rotation. It's a long shot, but at this point worth at least a look. Or maybe the popping is actually a "feature" of this as you suggest (just kidding!) ...Bob M
