Had this same problem on a '68 Chevy 250 L six. Ran great cold, but missed hot. The hotter it got, the worse it missed. Electronic ignition didn't solve it & carb rebuilds had no effect. Turned out to be manifold warpage when hot. It would bend the manifold away from the head when hot & generate a vaccuum leak. Just last year I bought a WC flat top & it too idled very poorly when warm. SAME cause. In BOTH cases, I removed the manifolds, chipped off all the old rust, put new gaskets in & they both behaved hot & cold.
