I had trouble with one of these myself. They can be real tricky to mess with if you never have. I was lucky to have about 4 of these mags to use for parts. Make sure you have all 5 of those springy deals that are in the cap. Make sure your points are good and functional. You might try a new condenser. If that don't get it, it is probably in your coil or magnet. I know your mag has to be complete and have all good connections and everything. Part of my problem was those little springy deals in the cap had worn a groove in the geared plate they rub against. I had to have it resurfaced back smooth again. Have you ever got spark out of it? Maybe someone before you worked on the mag and didn't put it together right. Good luck to ya.
