One of the small wires needs to be run over to the battery post on the alternator. It will then be hot all the time. The other wire usually goes to the ignition switch. When you turn on the ignition then that wire is hot. That is the one that excites the alternator. I would think you would probably have to hook up a switch coming from the battery and going to the alternator. You would then need to turn this switch on when you start the tractor and shut if off when the tractor is not running. Plug terminal #1 goes to the switch and plug terminal #2 goes to the alternator battery post. Hope this helps. Don
