I haven't time to post the whole debug process, but the bottom line is that the machine shop didn't remove all the plugs on the oil passages when they hot tanked. I mentioned that I was concerned about getting everything cleaned out because this block came from a salvage yard and had been sitting out. I loosened and showed them the 2 main plugs at each end of the main passage at the front and back of the block, but I wasn't smart enough to know that the 3 plugs on the oil filter side of the block go into the same main passage at strategic points, and they didn't catch it either. Each one has a passage that goes straight back 4-5 inches and hits another passage that goes to the corresponding main and cam bearing. The middle passage going to the center cam and crank bearings as well as the cylinder head was blocked with dirt/grit. I used a drill bit to pull the blockage out as I broke through it, then used a shop vac to clean it out. I now have lower over all oil pressure but do have oil getting everywhere (the guage was pegged, now sits at 2/3rd). Thanks for all the feedback. Stan(VA).
