One more thing you can also do is use a fuel stabalizer, I use this on my old Detroit Iron{cars} since not keeping it full will allow moisture to build and the rust with it. I fill'em, add it, and then come the warm weather run the tank dry and refill it with fresh fuel. In the temperate zones, they use winter/summer fuel blends which aids in evaporation, starting, ect.. but it does go raw real quick. Example is a a pickup I had sitting for 7 months, put a new engine in it recently, and that thing ran terrible, hard starting, backfiring, ect, I filled the tank about 2 days before I parked it, it had just over 3/4s so I know it ran well on that fuel orignally, why it went sour so quickly I dont know, didn't even have that sweet smell to it which usually indicates that problem, and no water as many tried telling me, besides water does not mix with gasoline, put it in a bottle and see what I mean. It was just plain bad and drove me nuts untill I pulled that plastic tank and refilled it with fresh fuel. Try stabalizer, it has worked for me so far.
