High oil pressure

I have a '51 Super C that runs real well, instant start, no smoke. The oil pressure gage pegs when started and stays pegged. I replaced the gage (old one had cracked glass) and the new one does the same thing. Is this high oil pressure an indication of a blockage somewhere or is it OK. The I&T says that there is no adjustment for oil pressure relief valve.
