McCormick history in Chicago

A bit of an unusual question but I was wondering if anyone could help me justify a trip to Chicago by suggesting a few sites to visit for a Farmall Tractor collector. My wife's relatives live in the windy city and I was planning on accompanying her. I just finished " A corporate Tragedy" and want to know if thier is any thing left to visualize from the huge plants they ran. Are the corporate "Archives" a public place? Is it in Chicago? Is it worth visiting? Can some one help with suggestions. Don't get me wrong I do like my inlaws, I would just like to have another excuse to visit Chicago. Thanks
