I'd be curious as to what Guy Fay has to say on this one. My notes say the C-113 block is 251 069 R1 and the C-123 block is 354 898 R1. Ignoring one mis-read digit somewhere, it looks like you have a C-123 engine. The engine number is close enough to the tractor serial number to be believable for the original engine. But there is no evidence to date that C-123s were installed in Super As. The "FAAM" on the engine number implies it was not moved from a Super C as the Super C engine should have been marked "FCM." Several possibilities come to mind, in no particular order: 1) A few of the last Cs had the C-123 engine installed, maybe they tried a few in some Super As at the same time. 2) Since Super Cs were being made with the C-123 at the same time, maybe it was installed by mistake. 3) The engine was replaced. Whole replacement engines came with stamped engine numbers, but parts weren't. Possibly it got a new bottom end and whoever did the work restamped the original engine number into the new block. Check the block for a date code and see how it compares to the codes on other major castings.
