Let me know what you find. I have the same problem. There is a seal on the main drive shaft, but as best I can tell it is above the oil level. Also, there is a cap with gasket over the countershaft end. That is below the oil level, so maybe that gasket is leaking. But I note that the leak gets much worse after driving it, so I suspect the main drive shaft seal which leaks mostly when it is running. I'd also like to know how you get along splitting it. Do you plan to split just in front of the transmission, or are you going to split at the flywheel. I would like to split mine at the front of the transmission, since I don't want to mess with the clutch, since it is almost new.
