Kirk: You need Guy Fays Farmall data book($10) The casting codes for the large castiron parts should solve the question. "Q" is 1947, "R" is 1948 etc Engine number don't always agree but should be about same year. Don't mistake R1 for R as some part numbers are R1. I'm fairly sure 1949 was the year that Deering was deleted on the decal and not '47. ralph
